Lokalita Ladakh,která je Tibetu podobná v klimatických podmínkách, etnicky ale i formou budhismu, leží odříznutě od zbytku indie na severu Indického svazu s hranicemi s Pakistanem a Čínou. Obě tyto země jsou potenciálním nebezbečím pro Indii a proto celá lokalita Ladakhu je plná indické armády. Toto údolí řeky Indus je ve výšce 3500m.n.m. a výše a je to prakticky poušť, s minimem srážek. Obyvatelé zavlažují své skromná pole důmyslným systémem kanálků právě z řeky Indus a z tajících ledovců. Drsný život má ovšem i jistou krásu, která se dá obdivovat v životě Lámů v klášterech, jejich obřadů (tzv. Cham dances) ale i v upřímnosti a srdnatosti vesničanů, kteří ví jak si s drsností kraje poradit a jejichž způsob života se začal měnit až s příchodem turismu. Ladakh je krásný!!!

Ladakh area whitch is called also small Tibet is very much similar to Tibet itself in climatic conditions as well as in culture and ethnicaly. This place lies cut off the rest India behind high passes that are under snow most time of the year! Bordering Pakistan and China brings potential tention and so the high army presence in Ladakh. All this area is situated higher then 3500 meters above sea level around the valley of Indus river that found its spring in melting glaciers. As such it is actualy a desert lacking rainfalls and so the locals are using smart canal system to lead the water from river to their fields. Rough life has its own beauty witch may be admired in the way how Lamas lives in their monasteries, their rituals ( so well known Cham dances ) but also in the villagers honesty and hospitality, that know how to handle life in such bad conditions. But this lifestyle has been affected right by the turism increasment in recent years. Ladakh is Wonderfull!!!!!
